Beta-decay of 26P

Abstract
 

The study of beta-delayed charged particle emission from proton-rich nuclei is a powerful tool to investigate the nuclear structure of the exotic nuclei. 26P has been identified as a beta-delayed one- and two-proton emitter in previous experiments[1,2]. It is important to carry out further experiment to investigate the mechanism of two-proton emission and search for beta-delayed alpha emission in 26P. An experiment of the beta-decay of 26P was therefore performed at the Radioactive Ion Beam Line in Lanzhou (RIBLL1). The radioactive ion beam 26P was produced by projectile fragmentation with a 32S16+ primary beam impinging on a 9Be target and then selected and purified with a Bρ-∆E-Bρ method. Protons, beta particles and gamma-ray were measured in coincidence using a silicon array and five clover-type HPGe detectors[3] to achieve the physical goals. The calibration of the detectors and the preliminary results of 26P including the gamma-ray spectrum, charged particle spectrum and half-life will be presented. Further analysis for the decay scheme, the angular correlation of the two-proton emission and the alpha emission property will be done later.
