Abstract

Superconductivity, a fundamental phenomenon in condensed matter physics, has been widely studied, yet the impact of vacuum fields on superconducting materials remains an emerging area of research. In this project, we utilize a terahertz (THz) metamaterial optical cavity to generate strong vacuum fields and investigate their effects on superconductors. Theoretically, we combine Hamiltonian method and Green’s functions to explore the coupling between single-particle excitations and photons, identifying potential observables. Through simulations, we model the reflectance and transmittance spectra of the material under optical illumination and extend these findings to vacuum field conditions. Experimentally, we plan to conduct differential conductance measurements to examine the DC response under cavity coupling. This work advances our understanding of light-matter interactions in superconductors and lays the groundwork for future innovations in quantum materials and devices.
