Abstract

I will discuss our recent progress in developing a highly accurate semiclassical method based on a combination of the strong-field approximation and the Herman-Kluk propagator (SFHK) for atoms and molecules in intense lasers. I will illustrate on a few examples of calculations of photoelectron momentum distribution (PMD) and high-harmonic generation that this trajectory-based method is as accurate as the numerical solution of the time-dependent Schrodinger equation (TDSE). Within the SFHK, trajectories are independent and can be calculated using primitive parallelization. Our method therefore scales up very efficiently for polyatomic molecules. I will also discuss applications of the SFHK to recent experiments on electron vortex and retrieval of target structure information from holographic PMDs. Our results can be used to extend current capabilities of ultrafast imaging and strong-field spectroscopic techniques.
