Introduction

Dr. Yipu Xia received his Ph.D. at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2020. From 2020 to 2023, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at HKU. In December 2023, he began serving as a Research Assistant Professor in the physics department at HKU, as well as a Scientific Officer for the Area of Excellence (AoE) project on 2D materials research.


Dr. Xia’s research covers growth of two-dimensional materials, one-dimensional strongly correlated systems, growth kinetics, and scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy.  

Research Interests

Dr. Xia’s research interests encompass the growth of 2D materials using molecular beam epitaxy, and the investigation of low-dimensional properties through scanning tunneling microscopy. Recently, his research has centered on the wafer-scale growth of 2D transitional metal dichalcogenides, delving into growth mechanisms, and the study of 1D electronic systems, such as Luttinger liquids, charge density waves, and related phenomena.
