Introduction

Professor Sir Andre GEIM, Nobel Prize-winning physicist behind the advent of graphene and 2D materials, is a Chair Professor under the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science.

Research Interests

Professor Andre Geim’s research interests are not confined to a particular field but are instead guided by the search for unexpected phenomena. Over the years, he has explored a broad spectrum of problems in condensed-matter physics and beyond, often through simple but original experiments that open new directions. Much of his recent work has centred on low-dimensional systems, especially graphene, other atomically thin materials, and van der Waals heterostructures, with an emphasis on their electronic and quantum properties, while also extending to molecular and proton transport phenomena.
